An innovative two-part course, which caters to participants of all abilities in our light and airy Fine Art Studio. The goal is to build confidence and provide participants with the tools to develop their observations and drawing abilities.
The first five weeks will explore techniques to aid tackling form, shape, line, proportions and the use of tone within the drawing process. Weeks six to nine will include painting directly from the model, looking at the relationship of tone and hue with liquid materials.
In our day-to-day lives, we rarely pay attention to the variety of shapes and forms our bodies make as we move. Consciously or not, we perform. Pausing and reflecting on how we go, where we go is a journey of discovery. Media will include drawing (pencils, graphite, charcoal and ink) and a plethora of traditional and new mark-making techniques; moderately referring to further painting, printing and collage. All courses will involve both group and individual tuition
Tutor: Alex Roberts is a British artist that lives and works between Berlin and the UK. She is an artist who works with paint and translucence; addressing paintings’ surface and spatial depth. Testing the sliding scale of figuration and abstraction, her focus is how we perceive identity and change – encounters. Roberts completed her MAFA at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL, 2015. In 2016, Roberts joined The Transart Institute as an Artist Advisor, along with helping establish an on-going drawing programme about the figure, besides linking platforms of exchange at Drawing Projects UK.
