A practical session, outlining the steps to installing an outdoor tap in a typical domestic set up. Female plumber Sovay Berriman is our guide, running through the process of fitting an outdoor tap to meet WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Service) guidelines. The workshop will demonstrate how such installation is highly possible for most individuals, whether you feel you have a flair for DIY or not. Less than two years ago Sovay held little expertise in plumbing but after a period of certified training is now a professional plumber with her own company PlumbMaid.
Please note: Everything required for this session (materials etc) will be supplied as necessary, no need to bring anything or wear specific clothing.
Sovay Berriman is also an artist, based in London and the South West. Her varied outputs manifest in drawings, text, sculpture and performance informed by an ongoing enquiry into human adventure and belief in the importance of applying researched outcomes to arts practice. Often working in collaborative and social settings, Berriman places great value in collectivised learning, whether within the field of art or beyond. In 2015 as part of her project Molluscs Hunt Wizards she further her interest in aptitudes for survival, which led her to acquire a trade as a plumber. Currently at an indistinguishable point with regards ‘what is art’ and ‘what is life’, Berriman works as a fully qualified professional plumber, offering a high quality plumbing and heating service customers can rely on.
