11AM ‘TAKING THE AIR’ ON CLAVERTON DOWN

Two hour National Trust walk from The Edge

National Trust volunteer and history enthusiast Robin Dixon takes you on a walk around beautiful Claverton Down. For many eighteenth century visitors to the city, exploring Bath’s surrounding countryside on foot or horseback was as great an attraction as its sumptuous buildings and grand public meeting places. Join this two hour walk and discover the many attractions which Claverton Down once provided for the Georgian tourist – its glorious panoramas, picturesque sham castle, extensive race course and attractive country park. Learn too how, thanks to the work of the National Trust, Claverton Down remains one of Bath’s prime visitor attractions.

Recommended Age 8 + Walk will be mainly over flat ground. Dress for the weather, and bring stout, waterproof footwear (some areas may be muddy, and there may be wet grass.
