Solar energy is renewable, clean and there’s a huge amount available, but we need ways to collect it. Join scientists at the University of Bath to find out about what goes on inside a solar cell and build your own from berries and pencils. Plants are already fantastic at using the Sun’s energy by photosynthesis, but we need to develop other technologies to help humans capitalise on solar energy. Here at Bath we research new types of solar cells to make producing renewable energy cheaper and more efficient in the future.

We’ll be running experiments throughout the day to find out what type of berries make the best solar cells. The solar cell making workshop takes 30 minutes, so join up and find out whether a blackberry, strawberry or blueberry can help save the planet!
