Special Events

The Edge: After Hours

The EdgeFree · 5-8pm

We are pleased to invite you to a free evening of technology and creativity.

This December we’re going digital. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and immerse yourself in an evening of projection, digital art workshops and tours of the physical and virtual realms of Playing the Picturesque.

You’ll also have a chance to experience augmented reality, using a HoloLens headset to find virtual pigs walking around in The Edge. The pigs were created using motion capture by CAMERA, a centre at the University of Bath. This centre creates advanced motion tracking technologies for use in the entertainment industry, to enhance training and athlete performance, and to help develop assistive technologies.

After Hours are special events which combine a unique mix of music, activities and arts experiences. This special event is the perfect way to enjoy a slice of culture and after-work drinks with friends and colleagues.

CALL OUT: Bring Your Own Beamer

This December we’re going digital… with an After Hours event to celebrate all things tech.

Do you create videos, gifs, moving images, short films or animations?

Selected digital creations will be showcased in an experimental pop-up exhibition in The Edge event space, as part of After Hours on Thu 5 Dec.

If you’d like to be a part of our pop-up event, please submit your finished creation before Thu 28 Nov to v.a.wastling@bath.ac.uk. All submissions must be suitable for under 18s.

This event has been programmed in response to visitor feedback on what events you’d like to see in The Edge event space. Bring Your Own Beamer is a series of one-night-exhibitions curated by different people around the world, originally invented by Rafaël Rozendaal.
