Pee Wee Ellis returns to The Edge for Bath Fringe Festival to talk about his extraordinary life and times, in conversation with legendary jazz vocalist Ian Shaw

We are delighted to welcome Pee Wee Ellis back to the University of Bath, having mentored our students towards a sell-out showcase performance earlier this year.

Pee Wee Ellis is an American saxophonist, composer and arranger. He was an important member of James Brown’s band in the 1960s and has worked closely with Van Morrison.

In this special and intimate evening we’ll head back through the years as Ian Shaw coaxes the stories from his old friend and collaborator Pee Wee Ellis. Sharing his stories of musical adventure, his experience in segregated America and of course his inspirational and many times over moments that made history!

Our host, Ian Shaw will lead a Q&A session after the interview.

This unique Bath Fringe Festival event will be recorded by the producers of the Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show for later broadcast on Jazz FM (UK), Jazz 90.1 (Rochester, NY), Jazz.FM91 (Toronto, Canada) and British Airways long haul flights.

Please note this is not a live music event. Although Pee Wee will be playing some of his favourite records!
