Paul Thomas studied at Harrow School of Art (1969-70), Winchester School of Art (1970-73) and The Royal College of Art (1974-77). He was Cheltenham Fellow in Painting (1977-78) and Artist-in-Residence in Drawing at The National Art School, Sydney, Australia (2004-5). Paul Thomas is co-founder of the Jerwood Drawing Prize. The Prize is committed to championing excellence, and to promoting and celebrating the breadth of contemporary drawing practice, this year including hand drawn, digital and three-dimensional works. In offering emerging, midcareer and established artists a national platform to exhibit their work, the exhibition has established a reputation for developing new insights into the role and value of drawing in artistic practice today.
